Coming up soon is one of my favorite events of the year, and one that I helped start 18 years ago through my volunteer work with the Hancock Chamber's Education Committee. Back in 2008, we envisioned an annual event that was both a fun night for teachers as well as a big thank you for all of their hard work, with prizes and classroom grants given in support of their efforts to continue to educate our students.

The 18th ANNUAL TEACHER APPRECIATION DINNER will be held November 18th,

4:30-7pm at the Bay St. Louis Community Center.

All educators in our Hancock County public and private schools are invited.

It's always a great time and I'm certain this year's event will be a blast! I'm honored to be a sponsor again and grateful to the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce and the Hancock Community Development Foundation for continuing this important event.

Since the start of this event, more than $90,000 has been awarded to teachers at the appreciation dinner. Last year, roughly $12,000 in grants was awarded to 21 Hancock County teachers. The classroom grants allow teachers to imagine and implement projects that impact our students and further their understanding of different subject matters.

The Hancock Community Development Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Chamber, is seeking contributions for the grants, gifts for door prizes and donations for 300 gift bags to give to the teachers. If you can make a donation for these efforts, please email janice@hancockchamber.org or contact by phone or text at 228-806-0351.

May all of our teachers have an awesome 2026 and know that they are appreciated throughout our community!
