April Showers Bring...

I know what the saying is and so do you. The gist of this saying, “April showers bring May flowers”, is that we should not “blame the rain” if we are having a bad day. We all get some rain in our lives, but the rain benefits us in that we get to enjoy the blossoms of spring in part because of the rain.

April Shower Bring... Hancock County MS attorney Brehm Bell blog on driving in the rain

However, not all rain events are a good thing. Ask anyone who’s had a flooded home or skidded off the road while driving during bad weather.

For the past 31 years, I have represented folks from Waveland, Pearlington, Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead and the Kiln and all areas in-between who were injured in unfortunate automobile collisions due to rain.

The law is clear in Mississippi – if you lose control of your vehicle due to wet weather conditions, you cannot “blame the rain”. You as the driver are responsible for controlling your vehicle in all weather conditions. If the roads are wet, you should decrease your speed, look out for puddles of water and exercise cautious driving habits.

Too often, the multiple car pile ups, that occur frequently on the interstate and highways of Mississippi, are due to hydroplaning and loss of control of a vehicle. If you have been injured due to someone else hydroplaning or losing of control of their vehicle due to rain, you should call my office to discuss the many issues that may bloom as a result of this incident.

Don’t let the rain get you down. Be extra attentive when driving in the rain. And don’t forget to watch for the flowers that are on the way!
