Bay St. Louis, MS - Bay High senior Cadence Lyrock was recently awarded the 2024 Brehm Bell Scholarship, given annually to a promising local graduate. The scholarship, open to both public and private high school seniors in Hancock County, was created to encourage those who are pursuing a career in the field of law. An outside committee selected Lyrock from a field of applicants based on her academics, character, and written essay.

Bay St. Louis attorney Brehm Bell awarded his 9th annual $1000 scholarship to Bay High graduate Cadency Lyrock. This fall, Lyrock will attend Vanderbilt University, where she will major in Political Science.
The Brehm Bell Scholarship is a $1000 one-time award. Lyrock will major in Political Science at Vanderbilt University in the fall, with intentions of earning a law degree.
“It has been my privilege for the past nine years to provide a scholarship to a worthy senior,” said Bell. “My high school education here in Hancock County gave me the strong basis and encouragement I needed to pursue my legal career. I’m happy to help another young student along their path.”
In a letter of recommendation, Lyrock is described as displaying “an unwavering commitment to excellence, demonstrating remarkable dedication, outstanding academic prowess, and exceptional leadership qualities.”
A practicing attorney in downtown Bay St Louis since 1995, Bell focuses his practice on personal injury cases and helping people who are overwhelmed or frustrated with the legal process.
