Bay High graduate Edelle Griffith was recently awarded the 2026 Brehm Bell Scholarship, given annually to a promising local student. The scholarship, open to both public and private high school seniors in Hancock County, was created to encourage those who are pursuing a career in a law-related field. An outside committee selected Griffith from a field of applicants based on her academics, character, and written essay.

“In a law-related field, professionalism, communication and integrity are essential,” wrote Griffith in her essay. “The self-discipline I developed in high school and JROTC will help me succeed academically, build strong relationships, and work toward a meaningful and successful career.” Griffith will major in Strategic Communications at the University of Southern Mississippi in the fall.
In a letter of recommendation, Griffith is described as one of the top-ranking students and a leader in the JROTC program. She’s described as “a dynamic force at Bay High School and a strong positive role model for other students.”
This is the tenth award given to a local senior - and we are so happy to continue showing support to a deserving graduate! Congrats to Edelle and all of our seniors!
