Bay High graduate Emma MacFarlane was recently awarded the Brehm Bell Scholarship, given annually to a promising local student. The scholarship, open to both public and private high school seniors in Hancock County, was created to encourage those who are planning to pursue studies in the field of law or similar majors. An outside committee selected MacFarlane from a field of applicants based on her academics, character, and written essay.
The scholarship provides $1000 in funds to help her as she begins to pursue her degree. In her submitted essay, MacFarlane wrote that some of the most significant lessons she learned from her four years of high school is to “hold myself to high standards, be independent from my family, and manage my time wisely.” She will continue her studies at Louisiana State University
in the fall.
This is the 7th year Brehm Bell has awarded this scholarship to a deserving graduate.
